Madie received today the Student Achieving Excellence award presented to her by a member of the school board and Dr. Don Stockton the Superintendent. I only got to be there because I happened to go to library for a cup of coffee.

Pictured above on the left is Mr. Ray Sanders A member of the Conroe ISD, Madie Lake, Me (dressed in only my finest work out apparel), the principal Mr. Victor Uher and the Superintendent Dr. Don Stockton.

Time to think and play

I notice today that it has been months since I updated my blog so just for kicks and giggles a few moments of reflection. Let me say that I fallen out of love with blogging. Three or four years ago when I started this thing it was way more fun and interesting to put pictures of all the places I had been or gone. Then facebook showed up and suddenly it was a little more rewarding to throw up some sort of snarky comment and get feedback, but I recognize that there is a place for independent blogging out side of facebook as well.

I am taking a few days at the end of the year to catch up on some sleep. Read some books and write a sermon or two. In retrospect I really messed up last year. I did not take all of my vacation or all of my continuing education. Is it any surprised that as I turned the corner into Dec. this year that I was burned out, frustrated and tired. Therefore, it is with much gratitude that I was able to get a few days off at the end of the year to get some time to think, pray and yes play some. I once heard that human beings do not have alternators which are the small generator’s in our cars that produce electricity and recharge the car’s battery. Do to our inability to charge our own batteries we have to stop moving, get off the road  and rest.  That is what I am doing thanks to the kind efforts of many.  Over the next two days I am in Angleton Texas where I have shed my normal work attire for EMS attire.  I am officially on duty for only 12 hours and the rest of the time I plan to sit, read, write and on occasion catch a truck and help out.  All in all I hope the next couple of days are rewarding as I take time to recharge and get perspective.  I would also like to thank Bishop Rinehart for preaching for me as I would not have been able to do this with out his willingness to preach for me Sunday.

Lost and rescued in Shrangri – La part 1

A story about surviving a devastating airplane crash and how they got the people out.  A good read.  I would also add the it help me see the value of doing something difficult even if the reasons are not entirely clear to you.  Because by attempting something like this rescue at least in the case of this story people learned more about who they were and what God’s will was for there life.
